Tres Agaves St Patrick's Day ExperienceEver wonder what it would be like to mix St. Patrick's day and Cinco de Mayo? Enter San Patricio (or St. Patrick) de Melaque, a small village south of Puerto Vallarta known for its beaches and seafood. The yearly town festival, held during the week leading up to St. Patrick's day, is a spectacle that would be enough to make Dublin proud - a swirl of shamrocks, green clothing, Mexican flags and Tequila that is unlike anything you've ever seen before.
Upon Your ArrivalGuests will arrive at the airport, and driven to the town of Tequila outside of Guadalajara (Mexico’s 2nd largest city). A charming colonial pueblo, they will check into our centrally located hotel there.
Agave OrientationAfter checking in on the first night, guests will be treated to an “agave-orientation” from our expert guide, which will familiarize them with the basics of concepts underlying Tequila production. From there, the group will make its way into town, where they will enjoy a banquet-style dinner featuring traditional Jaliscan fare.
Distilleries & TastingsRising early the next morning, the group will head to the Tres Agaves agave fields. Perched above the town of Tequila, the fields offer increidble views of the valley & the Tequila volcano, as well as the opportunity to see a Jima (agave harvest) in action. From there, we will head back into town to the Tres Agaves distillery, El Llano. Just off the cobblestone streets of Silverio Nuñez (home to some of the biggest name brands in the Tequila world), El Llano is operated by the fifth-generation master-distiller, Eduardo Orendain, in a charming artisan distillery. To cap it off we will head to La Capilla for some world-famous Batanga cocktails made by the octogenarian proprietor, Don Javier.
San Patricio de MelaqueAfter polishing off a Batanga, we will jump in the van for the ride to Melaque. Arriving that evening, you will get a taste for of the action as the town square fills with revelers gearing up for the evening's festivities. The next few days will be filled with education (we will visit a tuba, or palm wine, distillery), relaxation (our hotel is on the beach), and of course, the unique spectacle of the festival of San Patricio de Melaque turned green for St Patrick's day.
